Spectator Sport: Mt. Jungfraujoch

When I was asked to write about your favorite place, I thought to myself, "what should I choose?". I know that some of my friends will just write about their rooms, house, KFC, and other uninteresting places just to "get the job done". But I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'm going to spice things up a bit, and therefore, I'm going to choose the one I really, really admire: Mt. Jungfraujoch. Yes, I'm going to write about a whole mountain (mountains, Gandalf, mountains!).

The mountain I journeyed to is called Mt. Jungfraujoch. It is a Bernese alp, since it's located in the Bernese Oberland (Bernese Highlands). The elevation of Jungfraujoch is 3,471 m (11,387 ft), which makes it one of the tallest and famous alps in Switzerland. Asides tourism, this mountain is famous for many things. One of the things Jungfraujoch is famous for is it's train station, Jungfraubahn. Jungfraubahn (Jungfrau railway station) is the highest railway station in Europe. Two more things Jungfraujoch is famous for is the Sphinx Observatory, which is situated on the summit, and the Richtfunkstation (Europe's highest radio relay station).

The alps were so grandiose, not by human hands, but by nature. Even though everything up there seemed to lack flamboyancy, the sheer magnitude of the alps made up for it.

Only an intrepid climber would dare to scale the alps, as the sides of the mountains are shaped with jagged rocks covered in a layer of snow.

I had a fun time on top of the mountain. There were no strident noises outside: only the sound of the soft wind passing by. Also, you could just feel the cold wind constantly slamming at your face on top of Mt. Jungfraujoch. Not to mention the freezing cold and not-so-fresh snow. At that altitude, snow refuses to melt, even during the summer where the sun's effect is powerful at that altitude. During the summer, the sun's power is stronger since you're on a really high place. Everywhere you look you can see white snow everywhere. But under the snow there's a nasty surprise of sharp jagged rocks. The funny thing about this place is that, wherever I look, I only see Asian tourists --- Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, and Indians. Rarely do I see Whites, except the staffs up there.

One Word that Describes Me

One word to describe me... Well, this is kind of hard to be honest. Maybe not so hard if you're good in vocabulary. Well asides from that, there's a lot of words you can use to describe a person. You could use the words good, bad, kind, quiet and joyful. Name all you want because there's over a million words in the English language alone, and yet, it continues to grow everyday.

It kind of took me a while to find the perfect word though. And now, I've finally found the one word that would definitely describe me. The word that I choose to describe me (for now) is the word "ambiguous". Why did I chose this word? That's because I'm basically a two-sided person. 

Everyday single day I'm both serious and happy at the same time. You see, sometimes I joke a lot, have fun and relax, and sometimes I get way too serious. To put it in others' perspective (most of the people who know me), they'll say that I'm quiet (well not quite) and serious for most of the time. In contradictory to that, most of my close pals will say that I'm quite smart, funny, random and weird. Also, I could change in a moment's notice. I could change from being happy to being totally serious, and vice versa. And I could even start off the day looking happy and end up like shattered glass that has just been wrecked by a sledgehammer. 

---Extra Irrelevant Stuff---

 If this assignment was "Words that Describes Me" instead of "One Word that Describes Me", I would absolutely have an way easier time writing this. And if it wasn't for my friend who told me the word ambiguous, I would still not be able to come up with this entry.

Welcome to My Blog!

Hello to all you internet surfers, and also, welcome to my blog!

My name is Pongtiwat Kooaroon and this blog here is created for the sole purpose for my English class at school. I am now in Grade 10, and am currently studying in Ekamai International School in Bangkok, Thailand. 

I like single-player sports (e.g. Archery, shooting) and I really do love playing games. I also love doing multimedia (e.g. Photoshop, website making, cinematography, coding), but I rarely have the time for it.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my little introduction there. I'm going to update more about myself eventually so don't you worry if you think this is too little for an introduction. In the meantime, see you later and I'll keep you posted :D
